Dr. Nelson O. Onyango obtained his honors bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Texas, Arlington. He then proceeded to the Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania where he matriculated with a doctorate of medicine in 2016. He subsequently trained in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics from 2016 to 2020 where he graduated as the Outstanding Resident. He has worked as an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital, both in Columbus, Ohio. His last appointment was as an Instructor of Internal Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He is currently a consultant physician at the Karen Hospital in Nairobi and also undertaking research on colon cancer in Kenya. He enjoys medical education, global health, public policy research, preventive medicine, gastroenterology and developmental pediatrics. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, coffee in all its forms, long distance running, having completed three 42Km marathons and many 21Km races, watching and playing football, reading on politics, military history and listening to world music.
